Terms of membership
Last updated: 19 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and HealthClan when you use the HealthClan website, web app, or iPhone and Android apps. By creating an account you accept them. Please read them with our privacy policy.
Who we are
HealthClan is run by Emmet Donnelly, a sole trader in Ireland, trading as HealthClan. Contact us at support@healthclan.com.
Not medical advice
HealthClan helps you build habits. It isn’t medical advice: talk to a professional about health concerns. Nothing in HealthClan, or posted by other members, diagnoses or treats any condition. Check with a doctor before starting a new exercise, diet or health routine.
Invite-only access
- HealthClan is invite-only. You join with an invitation we send you by email. An invitation is personal and expires 24 hours after it’s sent.
- Your own account is for adults: by creating one you confirm you’re 18 or over. Under-18s use a child account that a parent or guardian creates and is responsible for. If we learn that someone under 18 has their own account, we can close it.
- Keep your sign-in details safe. You’re responsible for what happens on your account and on any child account you manage.
- Clan invitations you send carry your name. Invite only people you know.
Membership and payment
- An adult membership costs €10 a month. Checkout shows the final price, including any VAT or sales tax for your country, before you pay. Child accounts are free.
- You pay on the web app at app.healthclan.com. Stripe processes the payment. The iPhone and Android apps don’t sell memberships.
- Your membership renews automatically every month on the same date, and we charge the card you gave Stripe, until you cancel.
- Cancel anytime in the web app under Settings, then Membership. Your membership continues to the end of the month you’ve paid for and then stops. We don’t charge you again.
- If a payment fails, Stripe retries it for about a week. You keep access for 7 days. If payment still fails, the subscription ends.
- If we change the price, we’ll email you at least 30 days before your next renewal at the new price. You can cancel before then.
- Your right to cancel: if you’re a consumer in the EU or the UK, you can cancel a new membership within 14 days of buying it. Email us and we’ll refund what you paid, less a proportionate amount for the days you used. Otherwise, payments for a month that has started aren’t refunded, unless the law says otherwise.
- Deleting your account cancels your membership straight away, with no further charges.
Lockouts and breaks
HealthClan is built on keeping your word to yourself and your clan. Each tier asks for a level of consistency over a rolling 30 days. If you fall below it, we warn you, and your account can then be locked for a period.
- A lockout suspends your membership; it doesn’t charge you. We pause your subscription while you’re locked out, so no payment is taken for that time. Billing resumes when you come back, without a new checkout.
- Take a break (Settings, then Account) pauses your membership the same way and keeps everything until you return.
What you post
Habits, protocols, clan names and descriptions, and invitation or join-request messages are your content. You keep ownership of it. You give us permission to store and show it to the people you’ve chosen to share it with (according to each habit’s and clan’s privacy setting), and to keep showing clan statistics after you leave, as described in the privacy policy. When you publish a habit or protocol to the library, other members can copy it.
You agree not to post or do anything that:
- is unlawful, harassing, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit or violent;
- is spam, advertising, or an attempt to sell to other members;
- shares someone else’s personal information without their permission;
- gives other members dangerous health advice or promotes self-harm or eating disorders;
- infringes someone else’s rights, or impersonates anyone;
- tries to get into accounts or data that aren’t yours, or disrupts, scrapes or reverse-engineers the service.
Clan founders and leaders can remove members from their clans. We can remove content that breaks these rules. Report anything that worries you to support@healthclan.com.
Ending your membership
- You can delete your account at any time. See Delete your account.
- We can suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. We’ll tell you why, unless the law or someone’s safety stops us, and refund any unused part of a month you’ve paid for when we close an account without your fault.
- If we ever close HealthClan, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice, stop charging you, and let you download your data.
The service
We work to keep HealthClan running and your data safe, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. We’ll keep improving it, and features can change. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit. Otherwise, we aren’t responsible for losses that weren’t foreseeable, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
The apps are also subject to the Apple or Google store terms you accepted when you downloaded them. Apple and Google aren’t responsible for HealthClan or its support.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before the change takes effect. If you don’t agree, you can cancel before then.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts can hear any dispute. If you live elsewhere in the EU or in the UK, you also keep the protection of your own country’s consumer law and can bring a claim in your local courts.
